Wendy Belcher workbook is one of the most valuable I have ever used.
It is concise, incredibly useful, and to-the-point! If followed, will surely create a publishable article 12 weeks. I have a new, wonderful, successful peer-reviewed article as a result.
We very much.

This heavy book (350 letter size pages) takes the reader through the design of a writing project, beginning this article, choosing a journal, a review of the literature, writing this article, getting feedback, editing the article and sending it out.
Week X, which happens when you get the response back from the magazine, is about dealing with the periodic response to your submission. Each chapter has a lot of information teaching section with questions workbook to fill in. Everyday tasks following section, says the author of the article what to do on a daily basis.
Although this book may be too structured for successful academic writers, is a good starting point for new writers and academics have trouble getting articles accepted.

This book is extremely useful. I have used myself and assigned to students. Excellent for graduate students or assistant professors who need a clear practical plan to get the papers for publication.
It has many useful tips that even those of us hide in academia for a long time can learn from. Written in a very comforting and encouraging tone.

Just wanted to chime Not the reviews so far have indicated that the author has organized this book so that it can be used to teach a grad class on academic writing or research methods.
Although it deals with "research methods" in any discernible way, will provide a useful framework (covering topics such as how to write a review of the literature) to teach a semester-long class for seniors or graduate university students wishing to write an article on the social sciences.
And of course this will help you with your writing as well. However, he has written really for beginners. I was hoping for a guide to more experienced pro, which can help you determine tricks and shortcuts to write more productively, but I really do not do this.

Professor Wendy Belcher has written a tour de force that brings together a series of detailed steps to publish an academic article. Methods for writing, revising, submitting, and meet the editorial decisions are straight forward, organized and well supported by careful collection of data gained through years of experience talking with authors and teaching academic writing in the world.
The book has a title that is not normally found in such "how to" books on writing. Writing Your Journal Article in 12 weeks, under the theory that waiting for: the means to address our concerns about writing and evaluated by other scholars. Belcher successfully demystifies the process for submitting manuscripts and the decisions the authors of understanding "regarding the revision and rejection. Simultaneously, it enhances the confidence of scholars "with the assurance that the paper can be published. I can not think of any book on academic writing which is helpful and encouraging as this. I plan to share it with all professional colleagues involved with the ongoing challenges of scientific writing and publishing.
